Individual Media Project
This project will incorporate skills that have been taught in IT. Bringing these elements together to create a final project is a practical test and application of what you have learned. In addition, audio/ video editing software and file extensions will become more familiar during the project.
Choose a video software like Moviemaker to create a media project. We have Movie maker in A-103. Feel free if you would like to bring your own laptop in to use another software like iMovie etc. WeVideo has a free editing service with a phone app for android and iPhone that will let you make movies up to about 15 minutes in length if you do not have your own recording devices other than your phone.

You will use the information from a favorite college or career and create a promotional commercial. The information in your career or college assignments is the basis for the "promo" or you could pick a different school or career. The links to important information from the college search exercise will be your research sources. The goal is to highlight the school' or career's offerings and statistics that make it attractive to a HS student.The links below are your best intial sources to return to:
Day 1: Project Intro
- Read the scoring guide.
- Choose the college or occupation.
- Begin gathering all required info.
- Create a Word document to keep track of all information. Save it in your H Drive, IT, Final Project folder. Upload the document to your Google Drive, IT, Final Project folder with the "conversion" setting turned on so it is available at home.

Day 2:
- Use the college's website, career related website, or Google image searches to collect graphics/ pictures suitable to go with info.
- Save each image in your H drive, IT, Final Project folder and then upload to your IT, Final Project folder on Google Drive as a backup.
Day 3:
- Put text and pictures on the movie editor timeline.
Day 4:
- Finish putting text and pictures on the movie editor timeline. Begin writing the Narration from your Day 1 information (see the narration requirements) on a Google Drive document.
Day 5:
- Finish Writing the narration.
- Record your narration.
- Export it as a .wav or .mp3 file.
- Save it in your H Drive, It, Final Project folder. Also, upload it to the corresponding Google Drive folder.
Day 6:
- Edit the recording(s), export the file, and save again
- Place the piece(s) on your movie editor timeline.
Day 7:
- Choose your music (see the music requirements) from the temporary music folder provided by the teacher in the Google Drive College Music Folder .
- Download and save your selections into your H Drive, IT, Final Project folder and backup in the corresponding folder in Google Drive-- the conversion setting does not need to be turned on.
- College fight songs or school songs, might be available (see Mr. Rafter).
- instrumentals that set a serious academic/ promotional "tone" are your best bet to fill the time.
Day 8:
- Edit music using an audio editor.
- Put music in your video.
Day 9 & 10:
- Complete final edits.
- Export the video as a final show as an mpeg, mp4, etc. (see JR for help if you do not know what this means).
- Check your video against the scoring requirements.
- Upload the exported file to the Google Drive, IT, Final Project folder with the conversion setting turned off. Open the file from Google Drive and make sure it plays correctly.
- Share with JR via Google Drive after making sure it plays correctly in Google Drive.
